Making your website work harder

Allegheny College’s website is a key element of the institution’s enrollment marketing strategy, but it wasn’t working hard enough for them. They wanted their website to show off their unique value proposition, engage students, and make it easier to find critical information.

Paskill was chosen to deliver a full website redesign that met Allegheny’s goals while keeping students and prospects at the center of every decision.

Putting the value proposition front and center

We met with the Allegheny team to better understand the needs of their campus community. We learned that their students turned to Allegheny for its distinct academic structure. Students were encouraged to combine majors and minors across disciplines to create a program that matched their interests.

This was the differentiator that set Allegheny apart from its competitors. We wanted to make sure this personalized academic experience was highlighted right on the homepage, as well as throughout the site.

A key part of our messaging stemmed from the line, “At Allegheny College, you’re never just one thing.” Besides highlighting the unique academics of the College, we also wanted to explore the diversity of student experience.

High-quality visuals and authentic student testimonials are seamlessly integrated throughout the site. The “Gator Stories” section, which features narratives from current students and alumni, helps prospects imagine themselves at Allegheny by offering personal, relatable insights into campus life.

A better user experience

It wasn’t just the messaging that needed updating. To provide the best student and prospect experience, we enhanced the site’s functionality by making its navigation more user friendly. Clear links to sections like “Apply,” “Academics,” “Cost & Aid,” and “Student Life” make it easy for prospective students to find relevant information.

We also made updates to key areas, including the Library and Information Technology Services (LITS) pages, to streamline access to resources for students, faculty, and staff. These improvements support Allegheny’s strategic goals of enhancing marketing, communication, and branding to increase enrollment.

A holistic approach to website design

We completed Allegheny’s website redesign in under a year. It included:

  • Discussion guide
  • Website audit
  • Planning
  • Wireframing
  • Visual design
  • Content development
  • Web development
  • Usability testing
  • Training sessions
  • Post-launch review

Our team of digital experts worked closely with the Allegheny team to make sure every step of the process was aligned to their goals. From the earliest days of planning through post-launch, we kept the student and prospect front-of-mind to create an engaging web experience.
